SUBMISSION GUIDELINES |
Thank you for considering Three Sistahs Press. Our mission is to publish works by and for women of African descent. We want creative, imaginative, literate, well-researched manuscripts that will touch and change the lives of Black women. Work may be submitted through an agent or submitted directly, but keep the following guidelines in mind.
If we don't accept your manuscript, we hope you will submit again. Most often, work is not accepted for consideration that is incomplete in some way, or does not fit our editorial profile. We would never want to discourage you in your writing. Please also note we have a very small editorial staff, so it may take up to four months before we are able to respond to your submission. Please refrain from repeat calls or letters, we promise to respond to every manuscript received.
• A query letter must accompany all manuscript submissions.
• Do not send the entire manuscript. Include only sample pages or chapters as part of the submission.
• Include a synopsis of the manuscript as part of the submission.
• If you require that the manuscript be returned, include a stamped, self-addressed envelope of appropriate size with appropriate postage. Manuscripts will not be returned without SASE.
• Allow 3 to 4 months response time from the time we receive the manuscript.
• We accept electronic submissions, however, all of the above guidelines must still be followed. Send all electronic submissions to submissions@threesistahspress.com.
• Sloppy, hand-written submissions will be immediately rejected.
• We do not accept the following genres:
- Urban fiction
- Romance
- Pornography or Erotica
- Memoirs
- Christian or other religious literature
- Children's Books
Good luck with your writing! |
